Chikako Kodama has spent the past more than ten years in the jewelry industry creating    and marketing jewelry. She started her career at the world-famous pearl company, K. Mikimoto & Co. Ltd in Tokyo developing and marketing exclusive high-end jewelry from 1992 to 1996.  After coming to New York to earn Gemological Institute of America (GIA) diploma in 1997, she worked in Marketing and Merchandising at Mikimoto America.  Her Interest in jewelry and artistic design has been influenced by her mother, an award-wining painter who has held shows in New York, Japan, Spain, and Monaco.

In August 2001 Chikako began experimenting with bead jewelry; combining high quality pearls and glass beads to create unique and colorful accessories for daily use.  The resulting accessories have proved popular.  Unlike most pearl jewelry, which is quite expensive and fairly formal, chica.chika pearl accessories are colorful, casual and are priced reasonable enough for everyday wear.  They can be dressed up or down, mixed and matched with other accessories or clothing while maintaining a sense of style.  Many colorful semi-precious stone accessories are also added recently.

chica.chika made it’s mark with high-quality pearl and semi-precious stones accessory with whimsical food-related names, such as “orange pekoe,” “cherry coke,” “sparkling water” and “brown sugar.” All pieces come with a 18K white gold rondelle with the chica.chika logo.
